History of LIMA
Our time line
From 2008 an unofficial group was formed, consisting of representatives from Grandmaster Lee’s academy, the Action for Rehabilitation from Neurological Injury (ARNI) Institute and the Rambert School (in collaboration with University of Kent) Ballet & Contemporary Dance with the aim of meeting the perceived need to form a syllabus both for further and for higher education, using martial arts as an underpinning value system. This group was formalised in 2012 as an Educational Charity with LIMA as its registered name and now works solely from a new premises in Isleworth, West London.
November: CPD Level 5 course with University of Derby and LIMA
September: formal agreement between University of Derby and LIMA (deliver CPD course)
April: official opening ceremony with Lord Lingfield, Mayor of Hounslow, MP
December: changed name to London Institute of Martial Arts (LIMA)
September: established Sang Moo Educational Trust
The London Institute of Martial Arts (LIMA) is an educational charity founded for the purpose of establishing a validated undergraduate degree in Martial Arts Theory and Practice in conjunction with a UK university.
